Zak Miller - woven hands.
Zak was born in a small Idaho town in the year 1987. His love and dedication to art developed at an early age, aided by the attendance of exceptional public schools in Minidoka County Idaho through his senior year of high school. Zak's skill and drive to succeed in art grew with every passing year, guided by nurturing family and able educators. His talent was acknowledged on many occasions during his high school career and much of his art and writing received awards on the local and state level. His family and art instructors encouraged Zak to pursue a higher education in the art field.
Zak Miller attended the University of Idaho following his final year of high school in 2006. He further honed his abilities as he worked toward a bachelor's degree in graphic design. Constant sketching and a plethora of art classes helped Zak to develop a strong understanding of the fundamentals of fine and graphic art, but after a year of attending U of I and a notable body of work, he decided to attend Boise State University due in part to being considerably closer to his friends and family. After a year of classes at BSU and a building a distaste for school and art programs in general, Zak decided to move even closer to home and join the workforce.
Before long, He had been hired as a part-time employee at a sporting goods store in Twin Falls Idaho and was out living on his own. Still drawing and sketching everyday, Zak started to build a philosophy around what he thought art should and shouldn't be, and his love for art flourished once again. Inspiration came in many new and exciting forms, the most impacting being music. He began to build a new, more refined portfolio, testing himself with every new piece. Zak taught himself new techniques, worked in new mediums, and essentially did whatever he wanted in his work leaving a piece of himself in every new work.
Zak now works full time at that sporting goods store as a manager and his every spare moment is spent sketching, drawing, painting, writing, experimenting, and creating. Zak is currently working on a series of pieces to be installed in a gallery titled The Tyrants, the progress of which can be seen on the Current Projects page of this website.
